I’m probably going to bruise a few egos, but in spite of John McFee’s burning, stunning steel guitar, HLN’s version of this tune on ‘Hard At Play’ missed the mark for me. I had always envisioned it as a tougher ‘Americana Grinder’, and there was never a doubt my original vision of the tune was going to end up on ‘Lucky Devil’. It was an early pick.
